Julia O'Malley-Keyes
Figurative painting is the genre that this artist is interested in when she is not painting commissioned works or creating her acclaimed marine and coastal paintings. Ms. O’Malley-Keyes has an affinity for capturing the expression and mood of those around her, which is revealed in her collection of Panamanian Pollera dancers. Her next series of paintings will depict the emotion and dedication to dance. Julia has been given exceptional access to three renowned ballet companies in the North East and will complete this series of paintings during 2012 -2013.  Ms. O’Malley-Keyes has continued her studies of traditional painting techniques and travels yearly on extensive sojourns to perfect her skills.

Her work is collected by private devotees and corporations alike. She has also painted commissioned works of landscapes, private yachts and portraits for a wide variety of luminaries, including news anchor Charles Gibson and Don Graham, publisher of the Washington Post. Most notable among her portraits, at least for music fans, is the portrait of pianist-singer-actor Harry Connick, Jr. Her commissioned portrait of the late John “Buck” O’Neil now hangs in the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City. Painting is her first love, but her involvement in local and national charities has been a life-long commitment. ”Life is about balance, you get from it, what you give to it”
